Background of Shawn Taylor Racing

Shawn Taylor established Shawn Taylor Racing in 2000.

The company provides race engineering support to car, bike and go-kart racers, as well as trackday / performance enthusiasts.

As a result of Shawn’s passion for motorsport and race and engineering expertise, Shawn has been involved in many exciting car, motorcycle and go-kart projects over the years for a number of manufacturers, as well as for a number of well known and up and coming racing drivers.

As well as all the high quality track / race engineering services the company provides, Shawn and his team are the first in Europe to build VXR8 V8 race cars for a new series which Shawn developed and is commencing in 2012 - the STR Cup - www.strcup.co.uk.

The STR Cup is inspired by the legendary Australian V8 Supercars and aims to provide a financially viable route for V8 enthusiasts who want to experience the fun and excitement, horsepower, sound and challenges of a low grip, rear wheel drive fast muscle car.

Shawn is a qualified Automotive Engineer and is a member of the Institute of Motor Industry and Engineering Council as well as a Certificated Automotive Engineer.  Shawn is also an ARDS qualified race instructor and has provided instruction on a one-to-one basis and on behalf of a number of car manufacturers, including, to name but a few, Lotus, Porsche and Ferrari where he has instructed in the UK, Europe, China and America.

Shawn began his racing career over 22 years ago, in motorbikes where he raced motocross for a number of years.  Shawn was also a stunt rider for Godbolds Lings Honda display team, where he was, alongwith his team, the first to bring freestyle riding to the UK for Honda.  Jumping over vehicles and through fire every weekend didn’t provide enough action and excitement for Shawn, so he swiftly moved onto Supersport bike racing.

Despite his success racing bikes, in 2005 Shawn was involved in a terrible road racing accident which left him with a broken back.  Undeterred and after a period of rehabilitation, Shawn amazingly returned to racing, but this time on four wheels where he raced go-karts, single seaters, production touring cars and most recently V8 supercars!

Shawn is an extremely talented racing driver and engineer and it is this combined with his passion and charisma, which enables him to provide a first class high quality service to his customers.
